The tournament will be played according to the guidelines of the GLTA (Gay & Lesbian Tennis Alliance) and of the FIT (Italian Tennis Federation). Entries will only be final after we received your payment. Entries for doubles category will only be accepted after receipt of the entry forms of both partners. By participating in the Italian Gay Open tournament, players agree with the tournament rules.

Registration and Waiting List

Registration is only possible using the online registration form.
Your registration becomes final once your payment has been received.
You can pay during the registration by credit card or later by bank transfer (for European only) or credit card as well.
Payments should be made within 7 days after registering, till then your name will be include in the players list as "Pending", after that period you will lose your priority and your name will be put in the waiting list whenever the number of confirmed players reach the maximum limit set for that draw.
As soon as the maximum number of players for a draw is reached a waiting list will be open.

Entries, rankings & withdrawals
• All players have to play in the appropriate GLTA division. You can find the GLTA rankings on the GLTA homepage: www.glta.net.
• The GLTA has changed the GLTA Ranking system per January 1st 2008. It possible that a player has to participate in a different category now. Please check your rankings on
www.glta.net
• Registrations are accepted for a maximum of 2 events.
• In case you participate in 2 events, these can differ only 1 level (e.g. singles in B and doubles in C).
• In the doubles divisions, couples will be placed in the appropriate division based on the rankings of the strongest player.
• In case a player is participating in a too low level, he/she will be disqualified.
• Substitutes are allowed as long as matches have not started in that event.

Men Singles and Doubles:

If there are not enough entries in one level, we play either Round Robin or combine two levels.

D single (max. 16 )

Women Singles :

If there are not enough entries in one level, we play either Round Robin or combine two levels.

Mixed Double:

Level A (max. 8 pairs)
Level B (max. 8 pairs)
Level C (max. 8 pairs)

Cancellation Policy

Full refund is provide if you cancel before August 2nd.
If you cancel before August 23th you will get a refund of half the price of your registration fee. After August 23th no refund will be made.  

Matches
• Please report to the tournament desk 30 minutes prior to each match!
• All single matches will be the best of 3 sets with a tiebreak at 6-6.
In all doubles matches the third set will be played as a champions tiebreak (10 points).
• Consolation matches are to be played as 8 game pro-sets, with a tiebreak at 8-8. (see ‘consolation rounds’).
• Some events will be played in round robins. For every match you win, you get 2 points. The player with most points is the winner of the round robin.
• When two or more players have an equal number of points, management will count the number of sets won, then the number of games won. If scores are still tied, the winner will be decided by a toss.
• Warm up times are limited to 5 minutes.
• Please report the match results to the tournament desk after the match.
• Between matches a 30-minute break is allowed after a singles match and a 15-minute break after a doubles match.
• Field officials are present to check balls, warm-up times, rest periods and to be of general assistance.

Prices
• In all GLTA categories, winner and runner up prizes are awarded. For the Round Robin events, prizes are awarded to the winner only.
• In the consolation rounds only the winners are awarded a prize.

Late arrival
Late arrivals will incur a penalty in accordance with the GLTA rules. Therefore it is your responsibility to arrange transportation, get directions if necessary and leave yourself sufficient time to get to the site.
o Up to 5 minutes: loss of toss and 1 game
o 5 to 10 minutes means: loss of toss and 2 games
o 10 to 15 minutes: loss of toss and 3 games
o More than 15 minutes: default.

Balls and courts.
• After each match balls must be returned to the tournament desk.
• For singles always use the single posts.

Consolation rounds
• Consolation rounds are open to all players who lost the first match in the singles events. There are no consolation matches for the Round Robin events.
If you want to participate in the consolation rounds, please sign up at the tournament desk immediately after the match. Note: players who didn’t sign up, cannot play in the consolation rounds!
Matches in the consolation rounds will be played as a pro-set. This is a set until 8 games with a difference of at least 2 games and a tiebreak at 8-8.

Attire and shoes
• Proper tennis attire is required when on court.

Do's and don'ts
• Always enter the courts through the appropriate entrance. Avoid disturbing other matches.
• Players shall not engage in unsporting conduct or disturb other players.
• A player is not allowed to receive coaching during a match.
• Do not enlist the aid of spectators in making line calls.
• Wait until players on another court have completed a point before retrieving or returning a ball.

Unforeseen delay
In case of an unforeseen delay, the tournament committee may opt for one or more of the following: Sets will be shortened until 4 games with 2 games difference and a tiebreak at 4-4;
• Sets will be shortened to 4 games with a tiebreak at 4-4.
• The third set will be shortened to a super tiebreak - a 10 point tiebreak.
• The third set will be shortened to a normal tiebreak.
The tournament committee decides which option will be played. This will be announced before the match.
 

Other
In the event a situation arises which does not pertain to any of these rules, the tournament committee will decide how best to resolve the situation.
