The Italian Gay Open (IGO) is definitely the main event organised by Atomo's people.

IGO 1999 has been the first international gay & lesbian tennis tournament in Italy; it comes after the exciting experience had by some members during the GAY GAMES 1998 held in Amsterdam.

The nice atmosphere and the chance to meet thousand of gay people and friends coming from all over the world is something unbelievable; this encouraged Atomo's people to debut in 1999 with the first edition of the Italian Gay Open which was a real bet in terms of organisation and social aspects.

After the great and unexpected success in 1999, Igo became part of the GLTA (Gay & Lesbian Tennis Alliance), joining the international circuit together with all the other tennis tournaments organised in USA and Europe.

The tournament, which usually takes place on the first week-end of September, is divided into 5 different divisions – Open, A, B, C, D – and position in the draws is based on the latest Glta ranking.

A consolation round, for all first round single losers is available; it grants a major number of matches and play.

Foreigner players can be hosted by Atomo members and friends based in Milano and surrounding.
